What makes a relationship healthy? What are the warning signs of a dangerous relationship?
Relationship habits develop early. Approximately 72% of 8th and 9th graders report dating. By the time they get to High School, more than half of them say they see dating violence among their peers.
Destructive relationship behaviors in the early years can:
- lead to life-long unhealthy relationship practices;
- disrupt normal development; and
This is NOT love
- contribute to other unhealthy behaviors.
Left unchecked, these behaviors can lead to problems over a lifetime.
This program is presented around May to our Bellville Junior High School students. They are taught the signs of a potentially dangerous relationships and what they can do to help themselves or their peers in similar situations. This program helps young people become more aware of the appropriate actions in a healthy relationship.
It has proven to be a very effective program. Texas A&M AgriLife, the Texas Department of State Health Services and Bellville ISD are committed to improving the lives of our young people.
