The Horticulture Committee of Austin County, in partnership with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County, will be hosting a Small Farms & Vegetable Conference with 5 CEUs on Friday, February 24, 2023, at the American Legion Post #442 located at 1630 Meyer St, Sealy. Program registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the first presentation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Information to be covered includes Identification & Management of Diseases, Drought Stress & Recovering of Trees by David Appel, Professor and Extension Specialist-Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Cover Crops in Gardens & Residual Pesticides by Jodie McVane, Texas A&M University PhD Candidate, Fire Ants & Leaf Cutter Ants Control Methods by Dr. Robert Puckett, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist-Entomology, Update on Laws & Regulations by Dr. Don Renchie, Agrilife Extension, Agricultural & Environmental Safety, and Feral Hogs Control Methods by Dr. Aaron Sumrall, VP of Research & Outreach for Field Engine Wildlife Research and Management.
