Industrial Hemp Seminar

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service – County Extension Agents and Specialists across the state have received numerous inquiries about industrial hemp.  Like you, we will be watching closely to see if the required federal rules and a State of Texas plan are in place soon enough to readily permit 2020 production. However, AgriLife personnel have traveled to several states across the country to learn best management practices and head off potential production problems in advance of final approval regulations and permitting for the State of Texas. If you are interested in learning more about this subject the Industrial Hemp Seminar will be held Tuesday, December 10 at the Cat Spring Ag Society Hall, 13035 Hall Road, Cat Spring. It is sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Fayette, Colorado, Austin, and Washington Counties. The cost of the seminar will be $20 per person.

The seminar begins with registration from 1:00-1:30 pm, with the program adjourning at 3:30pm. The speaker is Dr. Calvin Trostle, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agronomist from Lubbock. Topics of discussion will include industrial hemp background; opportunities in industrial hemp for fiber, grain, and CBD; common questions about hemp production; major issues surrounding planting frequent poor planting seed quality; preliminary agronomic considerations for productions; and what the anticipated Texas Dept. of Agriculture rules will be.
