Event Information

Purpose
The purpose of Junior Lab is:
• To provide a district-level leadership training experience for younger 4-H members.
• To provide an opportunity for District 4-H Council Officers and members to demonstrate their leadership skills.
• To provide a wholesome, yet educational, experience through cultural offerings, craft activities and social interaction.
• Rotate throughout the district annually to focus on natural resources or other unique features of counties within District 11.

Cost: $30.00 registration fee for ALL youth participants
           $20.00 registration fee for adults, parents, agents, and D11 Council Officers wanting to order a Junior Lab t-shirt.
           $5.00 registration fee for adults, parents, agents, and D11 Council Officers NOT wanting a t-shirt.

All adults, agents, and District Council Teen Leaders are also asked to register on 4-H Connect, regardless if they want to order a shirt or not. All CEA’s, adults and District council youth will be required to register. If they are not registered, they will not be allowed to stay on site.

No refunds will be given!

Registration
Registration for this event will be conducted online via 4-H Connect. The online registration will open on May 1 and remain open until June 21, 2019. All registrations must be certified at the county level. Late Registration will be available June 22 – June 28, 2019 for an additional $25. A t-shirt cannot be guaranteed for late registrants.

Schedule
Arrival and registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the program kicking off with a welcome and overview at 10:00 a.m. The day’s events will conclude at 3:15 p.m.

Workshops
Junior Lab participants will participate in a variety of fun, hands-on and educational workshops. The workshops will be:
• Beach Safari
• Fishing
• Team Building
• Kayaking

Eligibility
All 4-H members grades 3 through 8, as of May 31, 2019, are invited to participate in Junior Lab.

Transportation
It is the responsibility of the county and/or parents to provide transportation for its participants to and from Junior Lab. No 4-H member may drive him/herself.

What to Bring
Participants are reminded to wear sunscreen and bring a hat. It is guaranteed to be hot! Also, t-shirts will be given to each participant and we ask that each participant wear his/her t-shirt throughout the day’s activities. Water coolers will also be available on-site; however, youth may also bring their own water bottles. Several of the workshops will be wet and wild. Feel free to wear a swimsuit under your clothes, just make sure it is appropriate for a 4-H function. Participants should dress cool and comfortable within the 4-H dress code guidelines.

Required Forms
All participants must also complete the medical form and waiver and indemnification form on their 4-H Connect profile.

Americans with Disabilities Act
Individuals who require an auxiliary service or accommodation in order to participate in the D11 Junior Leadership Lab need to indicate so and provide an explanation of accommodation(s) needed when registering. Any additional explanation that needs to be provided can be done by calling the District 11 Office at 361-265-9203 by the registration deadline. All reasonable accommodations will be assessed and made.
