Sweet and Sour Green Beans

Carolyn Balke’s Recipe from Mother’s Favorite Recipe

4 cups cooked French cut green beansbea

1 large onion, sliced thin

2 cloves garlic, sliced

1/2 cup vinegar

1/4 cup water

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup salad oil

Pinch of salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

2 tablespoons pimento

1/8 teaspoon celery seed

 

Combine green beans, onion, and garlic in a bowl large enough to toss.  Heat vinegar, water and sugar together until mixture boils.  Stir to dissolve sugar.  Remove from hear.  Add salad oil and pour over bean mixture. Season with salt, peeper and celery seed.  Toss gently until ingredients are well mixed.  May be served hot or cold.  Serves 6.
