Owning a Piece of Texas: Top Laws Texas Landowners Need to Know

August 26, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

FREE

Owning agricultural land in Texas is certainly a privilege, and, as with any great privilege, comes great responsibility. All Texas landowners should take the time to investigate and understand the laws applicable to their property and operation. From ownership of water beneath the land to potential liability if a person is injured on the property, to the best practices for negotiating a pipeline easement, several legal issues face agricultural landowners on a daily basis in the Lone Star State.

Mark your calendar to join us at Cat Spring Ag Hall (13035 Hall Road, Cat Spring, Texas) on Monday, August 26, 2019 for an event you won’t want to miss.  Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Agricultural Law Specialist Tiffany Dowell Lashmet will be the featured speaker covering topics from water law to eminent domain, special use tax valuation and landowner liability and fence law.

All attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the “Owning Your Piece of Texas: Top Laws Landowners Need to Know” handbook.  This one-hundred and thirty-seven page reference handbook is written to be understandable and practical for non-attorneys, covering a number of legal issues facing Texas landowners.

Pre-registration for the event is now open and accepted online by clicking HERE.  Interested attendees may also visit the Washington, Fayette, Colorado, or Austin County Extension Offices to register for the event.  A lunch meal will be provided thanks to the generous support from AgWorkers Insurance.  The program is FREE but registration is REQUIRED to ensure we have enough handbooks and an accurate count for the meal.
