Austin County Livestock Association Meeting

The 72nd Annual meeting of the Austin County Livestock Association will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the Cat Spring Agricultural Hall in Cat Spring, Texas.

The Association is offering a program for 2 hours of CEU credit, 1 General and 1 L&R.

The CEU program presenters will be Cammie Johnson, Texas Department of Agriculture, Inspector and Dr. Jamie Foster, Associate Professor and Forage Agronomist with Texas A&M AgriLife Research. The presentations will cover Pesticide Laws & Regulation then Selection and Management of Introduced & Native Grasses.

Registration for the CEU program will be from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm with a fee of $25.00 per person.  This fee includes membership in the Austin County Livestock Association.

The CEU program will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Annual meeting registration will be from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The meal will be served at 6:30 pm – BBQ Brisket and Pork by Schovajsa Catering Inc. Following the meal there will be a speaker, a short business meeting and door prizes. Our guest speaker for the Annual meeting will be Michelle Mahony a founding partner in the Houston Law firm of Muskat, Mahony & Devine, LLP.  The program will be on the Texas Farm Animal Liability Act Signage.

Included in the official business of the Annual meeting will be the election of four directors to serve for the next three years.  Directors up for re-election this year are Lew Ellyn Gross, Herbert Schumann, Ricky Huff and J.D. McKay.

The Association has been committed to awarding scholarships to outstanding youth in Austin County who plan to enroll in college and major in agriculture.  The Association also helps support other agricultural related activities.

The membership rate for 2022 is $25.00 per person.  Included in the payment of your dues is one meal at the Annual meeting and coverage for a $500.00 reward for recovery of livestock stolen from you.
