Come join us at the Annual Austin County Fair. All attending the Fair will enjoy good Austin County fun, food, entertainment and fellowship. A big midway carnival, PRCA Rodeos, Livestock Show, Parade, Queen’s Contest, Youth Auction Sale , exhibits and national recording artists will keep fair patrons entertained. Your general admission tickets includes the concert and rodeo.

SKILL-A-THON CONTESTS
Livestock skillathons are a great way for youth to share their knowledge of animals and learn in an experiential learning environment. Skillathons can be done in teams or as individuals and there are a variety of topics that can be covered in a skillathon. Some of these (but not all) include anatomy and breeds of an animal, feed used in an animal diet, wholesale and retail cuts of meat derived from an animal and production and management of animals. Livestock studied in skillathons includes swine, poultry and beef.
Skillathons are great for youth because they also provide opportunities for problem solving and applied science reasoning. They expose youth to real life production experiences and problems.
Youth from 9 – 19 can participate and not only do they walk away learning but they also have fun!
Beef Skill-a-thon
Information on beef skill-a-thon can be found in the Junior Livestock Rule Book on page 36. Entry deadline is September 1, 2017, and there is no fee to enter. Entry cards need to be turned in to the Fair Office.
Sheep/Goat Skill-a-thon
Information on the sheep/goat skill-a-thon can be found in the Junior Livestock Rule Book on page 56. There will be a separate Austin County Fair Entry card to enter this contest. Each individual contestant wishing to participate in the Sheep & Goat Skillathon Contest must complete an entry card and submit it to the Fair Office by the entry date. Early registration due October 2, 2017; limited registration day of contest. All Early Registered Contestants will be entered into a drawing to win a prize.

Rabbit Skill-a-thon
Rabbit Skillathon will take place during the Progress Show on August 19th. If you wish to participate, fill out the entry card and bring it with you on the day of the contest. Contest will take place at 9:00am under the Entertainment Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in junior, intermediate and senior divisions.
Swine Skill-a-thon
Swine Skillathon will take place during the Progress Show on August 19th. If you wish to participate, fill out the entry card and bring it with you on the day of the contest. Contest will take place at 9:00am at the 4-H hamburger stand at the Fairgrounds. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in junior, intermediate and senior divisions.
